Punta de Mita is the headland at the north-western end of Banderas Bay, about 30 minutes from Bucerías. Part of it is a gated luxury development with resorts and golf courses; next to it is a small village with a beach, El Anclote, lined with seafood restaurants.
It is a favourite with surfers, with breaks for all levels, and it is the closest point on the mainland to the Marietas Islands, so boat trips from here have the shortest crossing.
