The Best Tours from Bucerías

Seventeen real tours, ranked by what they deliver — and frank about the ones with few reviews.

We rank on four things: what you actually experience, how close it starts to Bucerías, value for money, and what travellers say afterwards. Ratings and review counts come straight from GetYourGuide. Some listings are new and have few or no reviews yet — where that is the case, we say so.

Most of these tours start somewhere else on the bay, usually 10–40 minutes from Bucerías. We earn a commission if you book through these links, at no cost to you.

What you can easily do without a tour

  • Bucerías beach and town: walk the sand, browse the street stalls and galleries, and eat at the beachfront palapas — no booking needed. See our guide to the centre.
  • La Cruz de Huanacaxtle: a short taxi or bus ride for the marina, the fish market and the seasonal Sunday market. See our La Cruz guide.
  • Sayulita and San Pancho: local buses run up the coast; you only need a tour if you want a guide or a private driver.
  • Kitesurfing: schools on the beach in Bucerías offer lessons and rentals in the windy season; book directly with them.
A good five-day plan: Day one, settle in on the beach and have sunset seafood. Day two, the Marietas Islands from La Cruz. Day three, whale watching (in season) or a turtle release, then the Art Walk if it is a Thursday in high season. Day four, Sayulita and San Pancho. Day five, Puerto Vallarta’s malecón and old town.

Best tours: FAQs

Frequently asked questions

What is the one tour I should not miss from Bucerías?

The Marietas Islands. The islands are a protected national park with clear water, seabirds and the extraordinary Hidden Beach, and La Cruz — the closest departure point — is only about ten minutes from Bucerías.

Is whale watching worth it?

In season, absolutely. Humpbacks breach, slap their tails and sing in the bay from roughly December to March, and the boat rides are short.

Why do some tours have so few reviews?

Several listings are new. We show the real numbers so you can judge for yourself, and we rank well-reviewed tours higher.

Are tours available in English?

Yes — English is widely offered on Banderas Bay, and Spanish too. Check the language options on the booking page before you confirm.
